Hi, Everyone.

Brochure For Opening of Vietnam Veterans Memorial Walk
I’m involved with the Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk currently under construction in Seymour, Victoria, near Puckapunyal. We are a group of volunteers who have been working for several years now to construct a special place to commemorate the service of Australian Vietnam Veterans. We are finding that veterans still aren’t aware of what we are achieving and our Opening of The Wall is coming up on the 9th of March 2013. I have included a brochure regarding the opening with contact details, for your reference. I was wondering if it’s possible to place details on your website and in your newsletter? On the brochure is a “titbit” of how the wall is going to look. It’s 2 metres high x 80 metres long and double-sided. It has both a photographic history of the war on it as well as all of the names of Australian veterans who served. We have been fortunate to have various RAAF Vietnam veterans assisting with the photographs and the RAAF is well represented, having played such a vital role during the Vietnam War. I’ve also enclosed a photo of Stage 1 – a replica of Luscombe Bowl at Nui Dat, which holds storyboards about the Vietnam War, plus a wonderful cairn commemorating the army, navy and airforce. The pavers hold memorials to those who’ve served, some who were lost, and also sponsors of The Walk. If you or your members would like to contribute, the forms are on our website which is listed below.

We’d love it if you and your members would like to come to the opening. We are landscaping around the wall with “rubber trees” (the Aussie equivalent) and gardens that will represent rice paddies. We also have other items relevant to the war, which will be in place for the opening, too. When it’s finished, it will be a lovely big park where visitors can revisit the war and learn of our part in it. We’ve also had New Zealand veterans involved, as they played an important part in our campaign, and they are represented on The Wall as well.

Please would you let your members know of the upcoming opening? We’d love to see all of you there. Please see the details below, and attached, for further information.

Kind Regards,
Carolynne Burgess

Opening of Stage 2: Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk, Seymour

Hi, Everyone.

The Wall, which will include both the names of all Australian veterans who served and the photographic timeline, is now in the hands of the manufacturers.

We want to thank you for your generosity in sharing your photos (many of which have never been seen before) – you have helped us to create a wonderfully special place to commemorate Aussie service in Vietnam. Our sincere apologies go to those whose photos didn’t make it through the selection – it was a long and very difficult process due to the sheer quality and volume of photos you shared with us.

A special thank you to our New Zealand friends and veterans who also contributed their own photographs to the Wall.

The Opening of Stage 2 is to be held at High Street, Seymour on Saturday 9th March 2013 at approx. 1pm. We would love to see you there along with your family, friends and other veterans.

We couldn’t have done it without you.

If you have any queries about the day, please would you address them to our Secretary, Mr Ross Gregson: his contacts are as follows:
